Creating Your New Year’s Resolution

Happy New Year!

The first day of the New Year welcomes new beginnings, new goals, and a fresh start. The dawn of 2009 shines brightly. My optimism for the New Year gives me renewed strength and excitement. As I look out to the clear lavender-blue sky this morning, I see peace, beauty, and never ending possibilities. The cool air is curiously still, as if waiting for some movement and action. The first day of 2009 presents itself as the ideal day to plan, dream, and aspire to fulfill all aspects of my life. I encourage you to do the same.

As my coaching practice continues to grow, I continue to observe and take note of universal keys to success. When I first immersed myself in the studies of Health Psychology years ago, I began formulating my own ideas and theories regarding personal success, happiness, and health which ultimately became the philosophy behind Step Stones For Life. The central philosophy rests on the undeniable connection between mind, body, and spirit. We generate an energy with our being using the combination of these elements, and as a result we are all interconnected by this universal energy. Balance between the intellectual, physical, and spiritual elements brings optimal performance, openness to others, emotional well-being, and health.

Defining your goals and resolutions for 2009 in a way that includes all elements of your being will lead you to fulfillment. Writing down your goals WILL help you achieve them. Words are powerful. Writing is creating, and pulls forth your strengths and cements them visually. Defining your New Year’s Resolution in the positive, rather than the negative will also increase your likelihood of success.

Here are some examples of positive resolutions that include the concept of balance to generate inspiration:

The Step Stone of Balance for 2009:

“I will strive for balance.”

I will create a balance between work, play, and relationships:
“I will focus on being in the present, the words of those I love, and nurturing my own success.”

I will create a balance between the physical, emotional, and intellectual aspects of myself by devoting time and care for each:
“I will exercise, eat well, share my feelings and needs, read, and continue to learn.”

*If there is one aspect of your life that needs more attention, focus on creating and generating your resolution around building and strengthening that area of your life.

Wishing you success, fulfillment, love, happiness, and joy in 2009. I believe in you!

Cheers,
